Brian Leon Bartel

Brian Leon Bartel, age 49, of Sylva went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 21, 2018. Mr. Bartel was born February 18, 1969 in Lansing, Michigan to Leonard and Maggie (Boyce) Bartel. He married Lori McElhaney. Brian is survived by his wife Lori; three sons, Colby, Trevor and Zack; one daughter, Lindsey; three brothers, Kevin Bartel, Steven Lockhart, William Lockhart; his mother, Maggie; and one granddaughter, Zoe Fath Bartel. Mr. Bartel was a compassionate and loving friend, husband, father, and son. Brian would stop at a moment's notice to help anyone. He will be greatly missed. Brian was a master woodworker. Anyone who knew him knew how much loved nature. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that in celebration of his life - please plant a tree. No public services are planned. Appalachian Funeral Services is helping the family.
