David Hagood Bryson, Jr., age 76, of Sylva passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Carol Marie Sindlinger Bryson and the son of the late David and Julia Bryson Sr.

David was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired attorney at law, practicing in Sylva, NC for twenty years. Prior to becoming an attorney, he was a registered land surveyor in Cashiers and Sylva, surveying all over western North Carolina. He was one of the founders of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors – Nantahala Chapter.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Western Carolina University, he was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi while at WCU. David was also a graduate of North Carolina Central University School of Law. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and one of the founders of the Cashiers area Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid reader with an excellent sense of humor. He loved to hike and swim and loved the outdoors. David dearly loved his family.

David is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Marie Bryson. He is also survived by two sons; Israel B. Bryson and Ivan Bryson, one daughter; Shelley Christine Reynolds and one son; Bobby Reynolds. He is further survived by ten grandchildren, one sister; JoAnn Fisk of Corbin, Ky and one brother; Jay Patrick Murphy of Tulsa, OK.

The family will receive friends and family at Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva, NC on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10 am until 12 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, also on Saturday, August 18, 2018, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
