Dellia Ashe Nicholson, age 91, of Sylva passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 in our local hospital. Dellia was born on August 1, 1926, to Sherrill and Myrtle Ashe. She was married to the late Andy Frank Nicholson. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four siblings, Henry Ashe, Charlotte Powell, Gordon Ashe and Corbin Ashe.

Dellia was a member of John’s Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sew, garden and would much rather be outside working than inside cleaning the house.

She is survived by one son Delane Nicholson and wife Clara of Sylva; one grandson Darrell Nicholson and wife Amanda of Franklin, NC; two great grandchildren  Keeley Shaye and Brayden Lane; one sister Wilma Young of Sylva and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Earl Holden and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Guestbook

I remember going to visit Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson when my father (Hubert C. Bryson) was pastor of Johns Creek Baptist Church; many, many years ago. We were always treated so well in their home. My condolences to her family.

So sorry to lose my dear friend and neighbor of many, many years. We lived beside each other for most of our lives and we still called each other and I went to visit her after she moved to Sylva. I still have the blanket she crocheted for my oldest daughter 48 years ago and the sweater and booties she crocheted for my 2nd daughter 44 years ago. I wouldn't take any amount of money for these priceless treasures!!! Until we meet again one day in Heaven!!! Prayers for all the family!!!
