Charles “Freddie” Boan passed away on September 1 8, 2021, with his family by his side in Sylva, North Carolina.

He was born August 2,1945, in Chesterfield, South Carolina to Fred Thomas Boan and Eva Gertrude Brock Boan. He graduated from Williston Elko High School in 1963. He attended college at the University of South Carolina, where he met and married Darlene Carol Baker.  They remained married for 56 years.  He graduated in 1966 with a BS in Accounting and spent a career working in accounting and real-estate development. He was involved in the development of multiple communities, including Sea Pines, Kiawah, Big Canoe, Reynolds Plantation, and Trillium Links and Lake. His interests included family, golf, University of South Carolina Athletics, reading, cruises and supporting women’s athletics.   He devoted his spare time to his family, taking his children and grandchildren on many pleasurable vacations. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Boan; two children, Candace Boan–Lenzo and Freddie Boan; and their spouses, Chris Boan-Lenzo and Winnie Boan.  He is also survived by four grandchildren:  Keegan Baker Boan-Lenzo, Graham Alana Boan-Lenzo, Chase Josiah Boan, and Emberlyn Janae Boan.

Mr. Boan is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Boan and Reggie Boan; their spouses, Sabra Boan and Janet Boan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Alana Boan; his sister, Gertrude Fulmer; and his brother, Laverne Boan.

The family will be holding a private celebration of his life in the near future.
