John Anthony Frady

d. February 21, 2021

John Anthony Frady, 75, of the Speedwell Community in Cullowhee, went home to be with his Lord on February 21, 2021, in Hospice Care at Haywood Regional Medical Center, after a long courageous battle with multiple medical problems.

Born in SylvaNC, on January 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Sara Lee Miller Frady and was raised by the late Henry Extine.

He was an active, dedicated member of Wayside Baptist Church wanting to be remembered as a God-fearing Christian. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, volunteering quite often with the Department on Aging in various capacities. As said by many, John was a jovial, fun-loving, intelligent, wonderful man. For numerous years he took great pride and joy in posing as Santa Claus at several events. He had an exceptional green thumb, growing bountiful gardens and thoroughly enjoyed the many beautiful flowers he and his wife grew.

Through the years John worked for Mead Corporation, Allison Outdoor Advertising, and retired from Consolidated Metco of Cashiers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Frady and Willa Mae Henry; six brothers, Ellis Jr., Roy, Asbury, Charles, H.L., and Eugene Frady.

John is survived by his wife of 24 years, Fannie Conner Frady; two step-sons, Richard David Broom (Bobbie) and Darrell Scotty Broom (Sandra); a granddaughter, Cecelia Lowe (Todd); a grandson, David Broom (Amanda): two great grandsons, Rusty and Logan Lowe; two brothers, Howard (Bernice) Frady and Richard (Ellen) Frady; a sister-in-law, Janice (Ben) Blackwell; and a brother-in-law, Gary Owen Connor, Sr. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Wayside Baptist Church, Sylva, with Pastors Lee Hill and Jim Frady officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Appalachian Funeral Services.
