Judy Fleming Evans

Judy Fleming Evans, of Waynesville, NC, took flight like the butterflies she loved, dying peacefully at the Maggie Valley Nursing Home on Sunday, June 28, 2020 following a battle with cancer. She was 79. Judy was born on Spring Creek in Madison County, NC, on February 23, 1941 to her late parents, Harvey James Fleming and Reva Seay Fleming. She graduated from Spring Creek High School and went on to earn a nursing degree from Haywood County Community College. She worked for many years as a nurse in Haywood County and Buncombe County and later helped in her late husband Ray’s printing business in Weaverville, NC.

Judy was strong and independent but with a sweet and funny side too. She loved to read, color, garden, and decorate her home. She loved the Lord and worshipped through song as a member of the choir at her church home, Biltmore Baptist Church. She cherished her family and friends who could always count on Judy for love and support.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; McClain Justice and Elmer Ray Evans, her grandchildren; Samantha Roxanne and Jesse McClain Justice, her half-brothers; Plato, Roy, Russel, and Sam, her half-sisters; Mary and Louetta, her brothers; Shad, Hugh, and Tillman, and her sisters Aileen, Zeta, and Corena. She is survived by her two sons; Ronnie McClain (Debbie) Justice of Cullowhee, NC and Gary Dwayne Justice, of Waynesville, NC, grandson; Dusty Justice and his four sons and granddaughter; Heather Justice. She is also survived by sisters; Ruth Holt, Cecil (Eugene) Davis, Peggy (Earnest) Presnell, and brother; Delmar Fleming; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time. Interment will be at the Clark’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Weaverville, NC. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity or organization you choose, or to the American Cancer Society.
