It was a pleasure living with Nancy for six months at The Hermitage Assistant Living Center in Dillsboro. We often shared a table for meals, and we always shared spirited discussions about politics, religion, family, and many other subjects. Nancy always brought her unique perspective to the conversation and I learned a lot from her. She talked a great deal about her early married life riding on a motorcycle on the roads of south Florida, her husband Alden, her children (whom she dearly loved), and the family dog who died years ago (Sheba). Her sense of humor was strong as were her ideas and opinions. Her fellow residents at The Hermitage, the staff who cared for her, and this much younger hall mate will miss her. I continued to visit her weekly after I moved back home In April. Thankfully I was able to share in a small way in the last year of her life.

Mrs. Childers was always a big part of our family growing up, as she and our Mom, Pat Elrod, were close friends. Mom always had the highest regard for Nancy-spoke of her often, especially sharing Elvis memories! Our condolences and prayers go out to her family. We know she is in the best place she can be-near the throne of God The Elrod Family Virginia
