Richard Karl Bartnik

Richard Karl Bartnik, was tragically taken from us on Sunday, September 15, doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle through the mountains of North Carolina with his wife, Alane. He will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

He leaves behind his children, Sarah (Randy) Barnhill, Joshua Barnik, Stepchildren; Candice (Jared) Carey, Alan (Jocelyn) Passaro, Dominick Passaro and Roxan (Delvy) Ulloa. Grandchildren; Hannah & Maile Barnhill, Sydney, Ella & Jovie Carey, Danny Rogers and Luca Ulloa, his mother Eugenia, sister Linda, brother Terry and sister in law Debbie.

Richard was born in Milwaukee on January 8, 1946 to Eugenia and Rudolf Bartnik.  He was a Veteran having joined the Air Force  at the age of 18. Married Sandi Weber in 1970 and had 2 children, Sarah and Josh. He was a proud City of Milwaukee Firefighter for many years.

Craving a warmer climate, he moved to California and finally settling in Florida where he met his best friend and soulmate and married  Alane Passaro.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting for bargains.  He enjoyed spending time with his family as his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Richard was an extremely talented and hard working man. He could make or fix anything he put his mind to and always used his talents to help others He could usually be found around a fire playing his guitar and singing to the delight of his friends and family. He never met a stranger and brought fun and laughter to everyone he knew. He had such an adventurous free spirit and was always the life of the party.

There will a Celebration of Life Ceremony held in Cape Coral, Florida the beginning of October.

Wow! What the Hammer family wrote below is right on. No matter how long between times you met up with Rich, it was always a pleasure to be in his company. We feel fortunate to have had the wind in our face on two wheels, strummed guitars, or just be good friends and neighbors with Rich. He is one of the truly coolest people I have ever known. Hope that I may someday be as good and kind hearted as Rich! Dear Alane, and family... my sincere sympathy.

I was shocked to hear of this tragedy. Betty and I met Rich and Alane thru friends here in Cape Coral when we moved here 10 years ago. He always had a smile and a terrific sense of humor. He helped me with a few projects here at the house and was a pretty good hand-man. We played golf once and socialized with friends several times. Our condolences to the family of Rich's passing. May he rest in peace. Bob and Betty Millen Cape Coral, Florida

There are no words to express how sad Hammer and I are. I met Dickie many moons ago at engine 28 where he worked with Hammer. He was sitting with some other guys watching the news when my son and my self came in. I liked him at that exact moment. He was funny, caring and helped us a great deal. He was already in Florida when we moved here, we came back from store and his card was in the door. He helped Hammer hang all our blinds. He was one of those people you don't have to see all the time but when you do no matter how long its been its like you start where you left off. Heaven took a great guy way to soon. So so sorry for the family, friends and Alane , my heart hurts. When its our turn to go I hope he is waiting for us at the gate with a glass of wine in his hands. Love you, miss you more
