Ada “Sue” Cogdill Caldwell, 89, of Sylva, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, 6 June 2026. Sue was born in Sylva, NC on 22 January 1937 to the late John Willie Cogdill and Ada Adams Cogdill.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Reverend Jack Wayne Caldwell, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister Willie “Lou” Fisher; sister Betty Cogdill and brothers Furman Cogdill, Gene Cogdill, Frank Cogdill and John Willie Cogdill, Jr.

Sue is survived by her two loving children, daughter Debbie Meaney (Danny) of Marion; her son Jack Caldwell (Amanda) of Waynesville; and two grandsons, Senior Airman Derek Meaney (Abby) of Barksdale AFB, LA and Ian Caldwell of Waynesville.

Mrs. Caldwell was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church in Sylva. She retired from Continental Telephone (CONTEL) in Sylva after over 30 years of service.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, 20 June 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with a celebration of life service immediately following with Pastors Austin Frady and Eddie Stillwell officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva.
