Dr. Alan E. Riffle, 84, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, in Ormond Beach, FL.

He was born in Ohio on March, 12, 1941 to the late Ivadel and Stuart Riffle.

He grew up in DeLand, FL, graduating from DeLand High School. He attended and graduated from Stetson University, with a major in Biology. Continuing his love for baseball he signed a professional baseball contract with the Baltimore Orioles, reaching as high as AAA status and playing for his mentor, Earl Weaver. In the off seasons, he would attend graduate school at Duke University where he received his Law degree. After working as an attorney in Mobile, AL, he accepted position a at Western Carolina University as a Business Law professor. While working at Western, he also coached the Cullowhee High School Rebels baseball team, leading to a State Championship in 1975.

He was an avid sports enthusiast following the Miami Dolphins, Miami Hurricanes and Duke University basketball. Fishing was also a particular passion of his.

He is survived by his wife Carmen, daughter Marian Bittner (Chad Edwards), granddaughter Erin Hermache(Anas), and grandson Wesley Bittner.
