Alvin Norton Kinkaid

Alvin Norton Kinkaid, 79, of Whittier, passed away Wednesday August 29, 2012 at Skyland Care Center in Sylva. A U.S. Army Veteran he was the son of the late Nason and Mary McCambell Kinkaid. He was a member of the American Legion William E. Dillard Post 104, and a past Master Mason in Miami, Florida. He was a Land Developer and General Contractor for over 51 years. He loved to build cars and especially hot rods. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia Albert Kinkaid; two sons- Al and Robert Kinkaid both of Sylva; a daughter- Julie Maciel of Ocala, Florida; a sister- Rachel Cagle of Sylva; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, September 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Stacy Woods officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Williams, David Hall, Steve Ensley, David Pinkerton, Kelley McClure, Brett Austin Smith, Colin Kinkaid Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Skyland Care Center Activities Department, 193 Asheville Highway, Sylva, NC 28779. . .
