Angie Violet Simpson

Angie Violet Simpson of Sylva, NC went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. She was born on October 5, 1935, in Simon, WV she was the daughter of Gallie and Merle Handshaw of Simon, WV. She passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours at Tsali Care Center in Cherokee, NC where she was a much loved resident. Angie was a superb house wife of 69 plus years and mother to 6 children. A mother is the toughest occupation in life. Angie also loved fishing, music, cooking, and family gatherings. Her children greatly express the gratitude for the best mother any child could ask for.

Angie is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Sid Simpson of Simon, WV and her last husband, Edward Turpin of Whittier, NC. Also preceding her in death are 3 of her children, Tony Simpson, Diana Cline, and Edward Turpin of Sylva, NC.

As a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother; Angie had so much to celebrate bragging on her abundant blessings and large family tree of 6 children, 19 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Surviving family is her son, Tim Simpson of Wayside, WV along with 2 loving daughters of Waynesville, NC; Angela Worley and Iva Turpin. Angie will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, January 2, 2023, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Rev. Eddie Stillwell will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
