Basil Joseph Doyle

Basil Joseph Doyle, known affectionately as Joe or Butch to those who loved him, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Born in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday, September 20, 1944, Joe spent the last years of his vibrant life in Sylva, North Carolina.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Doyle, with whom he shared a wonderful life filled with adventure and love. Together, they raised two cherished daughters, Jennifer Lane, married to Joseph, and Kathleen Doyle. Joe's legacy of kindness and strength lives on in his sister Bernadine Wallace and her husband Ivan, as well as in the many beloved nieces and nephews who mourn his passing.

He was predeceased by his loving parents, Frank and Mary Doyle, and an infant son, John Francis. Joe's reunion with his late sisters Bernice Connell, Frances Zigich, Cornelia McSweeney, Kathleen Soltis, Patricia Coffee, and son-in-law Joseph Lane in the next life offers some solace to those he left behind.

A devoted Certified Public Accountant, Joe was known for his integrity and dedication to his profession. But he found his true calling after leaving the accounting world and becoming a cab driver for several years before finally retiring.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Mother of God Roman Catholic Church in Sylva, North Carolina on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 11:30am. Joe will ultimately return home to Detroit and be buried at Holy Sepulcher.
