Sylva - Betty Smith Powell, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Skyland Care Center.
A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Gracia Queen Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Powell; a daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Benny Henry; and several brothers and sisters. Betty was a seamstress with Buster Brown for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, and especially loving her family. Betty loved studying the Bible.
She is survived by a son, Richard Powell (Diane); one granddaughter, Jessica Webb; and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Eli, Finley, and Landry.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 13 in the chapel of Appalachian funeral services at 1:00pm with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating along with Betty's granddaughter Jessica Webb.
