Birdie Ellen Buchanan

Birdie Ellen Sutton Buchanan, 95, of Sylva, NC passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020. Birdie was born on May 23, 1925 to the late Fred and Nora Sutton. She was preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Buchanan Jr. Birdie was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She attended Woodland Church of Christ and loved her church family dearly. In addition to her parents she was preceded by her siblings, she was the last of seven children. She was survived by three children, Henrietta Bradley, Carroll (Gaye) Buchanan and Clara (Ron) Turpin; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kelley) Buchanan, Amy (Jerry) Pitts, Jason (Tara) Bradley and Chris Turpin; and eight great-grandchildren, Sara and Samuel Buchanan, Handley and Eli Pitts, Skyelar, Talyn, Emma and Caleb Bradley. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Fairview Memorial Gardens with Ken Hicks of Woodland Church of Christ officiating. Memorials may be made to the Woodland Church of Christ, PO Box 261, Webster, NC 28788. Appalachian Funeral Services is handling arrangements for the family.
