Blanch Mathis Allen

Blanch Mathis Harris Allen, 95, of Sylva, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026.

She was born on October 30, 1930 in Jackson County to the late Bowden and Myrtle Robinson Mathis. In addition to her parents, Blanch was preceded in death by her first husband, Dave Harris and her second husband, Ed Allen; daughters, Judy Carroll, Debbie Harris, and Angie Fisher; and a brother, Clint Mathis.

Blanch enjoyed camping, her dogs, and sitting on her porch. She ran Velts cafe and later owned the Sylva Motor Court.

She s survived by her son, Mike Harris (Jeanne); grandchildren, Caleb Harris (Melissa), Steven Aldridge, and Seth Harris; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Paul, and Chloe; sisters, Effie Mathis, Betty Bradley, Joan Ellis (Billy); and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Fairview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Scott Courtney officiating.
