Bob Moss

Bobby Joe "Bob" Moss, 86, of Sylva, went to be present with his Lord January 15, 2021. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Shirley and Bertha Moss. A US Navy veteran, Bob served as an ordained deacon at both Cashiers Baptist Church and East Sylva Baptist Church. He was a retired Volunteer Fireman in Cashiers and an avid golfer. Bob was a friend to everyone and was loved by all. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Passmore Moss and brother, Buck Moss. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Nell D. Moss of the home; daughter, Teresa Buchanan (James) of Concord; sons, Jim Moss (Connita McCall) of Cashiers, Randal Moss (Rita), of Balsam; brother, Jack Moss, of Glenville; stepdaughter, Pam Wood (Rick), of Dillsboro; stepson, Greg Plemmons (Shauna), of Whittier; Also, grandchildren, Jordan Moss (Brittainy), Amber Moss, Justin Moss; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Wood, Jeremy Wood (Taryn), Brandon Plemmons, Sam Plemmons; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Moss, Aubree Moss; step-great-granddaughter, Addyson Wood; and nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, January 18, 2:00 PM at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Rev. Reed Benson and Rev. Charles Dean officiating. Please wear face coverings and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to East Sylva Baptist Church. The family would like to express gratitude to Morningstar Assisted Living for the excellent care Bobby Joe received.
