Charles Benjamin Franklin Sr., 92, of Sylva, NC who passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020. He is the son of the late William Nelson Franklin and Mary Amanda (Gibbs) Franklin. He is preceded in death by his wife Martha Louis Franklin (Moore). Charles was a Combat MP in the Korean War. He retired after 24 years at Western Carolina University where he worked as Chief Operator of the Water Treatment Plant. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County in the Cope Creek Community and he was an avid guitar player. He is survived by four sons Charles B. “Benny” Franklin Jr., Terry Ray Nelson Franklin, Timothy (Carina) Franklin and Tony Franklin; grandchildren Timothy, Andrew, Haven and Sunshine Franklin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will take place at Franklin Family Cemetery.
