Darlene McAlister Mayhew

Darlene McAlister Mayhew, age 78 passed away peacefully at home in Franklin, NC on June 19th, 2025. Darlene was born on September 3rd, 1946 to the late Clarence and Margie McConnell McAlister in Iredell, NC. In addition to her loving parents; she is proceeded in death by one brother, Carroll McAlister; sisters; Pat Fox and Shirley Cline. 

Darlene is survived by her son, Eric (Amy) Mayhew of Franklin, NC; daughter, Lisa Ose of High Shoals, NC; granddaughters, Jessie, Elizabeth and Cydney; grandsons, Sam, Jacob and David; great granddaughter, Coltley; brother, Leonard (Lori) McAlister, along with several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. 

Darlene loved God, her family and friends deeply. Darlene spent many years in both hospitality and health care services as a sterile processor. She enjoyed spending time with and helping her loved ones and strangers alike. Darlene was an avid sports fan and loved Duke basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. Darlene was also loved of Elvis; if there was an impersonator in town you knew where to find her living it up with her dear friend Betsy. Darlene will continue to be the light in many lives. 

A celebration of life will be held for Darlene at New Life-Foursquare Church located at 441 E Rhodes St, Lincolnton, NC 28092 at 4pm. If you care to share; the family would love for you to take a moment to reflect and share a little about Darlene at that time. Afterwards, family and friends will gather for food and fellowship.
