DeeAnn Brooks

DeeAnn Franklin Brooks, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025 at the age of 69.

Born in Sylva, NC on May 2, 1956, she was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a 1974 graduate of Sylva-Webster High School. She retired after serving in many different support staff roles within the Jackson County Public School system. DeeAnn will be remembered as a kind, loving and compassionate woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bleakadee Franklin, and her father, Cecil Franklin. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Brooks; her children, Heather Sneed (Jarrett) and Josh Brooks (Olivia); her grandchildren, Grayson Sneed, Liam Sneed, Knox Sneed, Grady Brooks, and Henry Brooks; and two brothers, Dick Franklin (Maria) and Greg Franklin (Theresa). DeeAnn will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Visitation of the family will be held from 12:00 until 2:00 p. m. on Friday May 30, 2025. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The Reverends Jason Smith and Josh Hyde will officiate.
