Dollie Owen Hoxit

Dollie Owen Hoxit, 82 of Tuckasegee, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 19, 2024, after suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on Wolf Mountain on September 17, 1942. Dollie enjoyed gardening, reading books, and working puzzles. She was a long-time member of Charleys Creek Baptist Church.

 Dollie was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mary Jane Owen of Wolf Mountain; her daughter Judy Ann; maternal grandparents, Jardy and Elijah Owen; paternal grandparents, Harrison and Rosie Owen; brothers, Jimmy, Randall, and Harrell Owen; sister, Frances Owen. 

 Dollie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Berlen Hoxit; three kids and their spouses, Hilda McCall (James) of Brevard, Donnie Hoxit (Sherry) of Sylva, Linda Luker (Steve) of Tuckasegee; six grandchildren, Tim, Jonathan, Chad, Trevor, Kathy, Amanda; eight, great-grandchildren; siblings, Laverne, Irene, Shirley, Velvet, Foye, Bobby, and Dewayne. 

 The family will receive friends and family with Dollie at the home for a day prior to the service. 

 A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Charleys Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Travis Owen will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cold Creek Family Cemetery. In addition to receiving friends at the home a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
