Donald Morrison, 82, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 17, 2024.

Born in Iredell County North Carolina, Donald was the son of the late John and Carrie Morrison. Donald was the owner and operator of Morrisons Concrete Equipment for many years. He was known for engineering many new types of machinery during his career. So much so that he held a total of 28 U.S Pattens.

Donald enjoyed serving others in as many ways as he could. As a member of New Hope Baptist Church, he served his Lord and his community as a deacon of the church for many years. He always grew what he called his community garden every year always to give away more than he kept for himself. In his later years he enjoyed watching western movies and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom he loved very much.

In addition to his parents Donald is preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Hawes. His brothers John Jr. and Steve. And his sisters Cinthia, Sue, and Betty.

Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years Margie Morrison of Sylva. Sons Melvin Morrison of London Kentucky and Kenneth Morrison of Los Angeles California. One brother, Lewis Morrison of Jacksonville Florida. His grandchildren Amy, Nathan, Waylen, Jessica, and Tiffany. 5 Great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday April 21,2024 at 2:00pm at New Hope Baptist church. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery.  Rev. Ernie Jamison and Rev. Mike Moore will be officiating the service.
