Dr. John V. Edwards

Dr. John V. Edwards DDS, who unexpectedly went to be with the Lord at his home in Cullowhee over the weekend, spent 44 years caring for the residents of Jackson County. 

He came to Western North Carolina after receiving his Dental Training at Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1977. He began his career as the Public Health Dentist for Jackson County, NC in 1978 until he established his Private Practice in Sylva in 1982. Dr. Edwards is known for being caring and compassionate in and out of the Dental Office.

Dr. Edwards was an active Gideon, active in his Church, Victory Baptist, a member of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the American Dental Association, NC and WNC Dental Societies. When not caring for patients, Dr. Edwards enjoyed fishing and tending to his cats and chickens. He is survived by his sister Dr. Premala Brewster-Wilson, and two generations of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday June 11th at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Wolfrey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
