Ellavee Ruby Gordon, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on Monday, September 18th, 1944, in Clay County, North Carolina, Ellavee lived 25 years in New Mexico with her late husband before residing in Sylva, NC, where her warmth and kindness touched many.
Ellavee's enduring commitment to her family and community was evident throughout her life's journey. She was preceded in death by her father Howard Paul Ledford Sr., her mother Edna Ruth Ledford, her spouse George Gordon, and her life partner, Ronnie Deitz. Despite these losses, Ellavee remained a pillar of love and support for those around her.
A dedicated Mail Clerk at Western Carolina University, Ellavee was known for her work ethic and her friendly, approachable nature. Her colleagues and students alike will remember her kindness.
She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory, including her sister Linda Hall and husband Jerry, her brother Howard Ledford and his wife Dianne, and her stepchildren Josh Deitz and Chassie Selouane. Her nephews Kevin Hall and Freddie Ledford along with her nieces Shannon English, Teresa Jackson and Tanya Tallent hold their Aunt Ellavee in their hearts with deep affection. Her absence will also be deeply felt by her very special canine companion, Paco, whose loyalty brought joy and comfort to her life.
