Fannie Conner Frady

Fannie Conner Broom Frady, 80, of the Speedwell Community in Cullowhee entered into eternal rest on May 8, 2024, after a difficult battle with numerous medical problems.

Fannie was born in Sylva, NC, on May 4, 1944, to the late Alvin Lee and Mary Helen Ledford Conner.  Fannie is survived by two sons, Richard David Broom (Bobbie) and Darrell Scotty Broom (Sandra); granddaughter, Cecilia Lowe (Todd); grandson, David Broom (Amanda); two great grandsons, Rusty and Logan Lowe. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Owen Conner, Sr. and sister, Janice Conner Blackwell (Ben).

Through the years, Fannie worked for many years at the local sewing plants, Sylco, Ashley Company, and QC Apparel.  In her younger years, she was an EMT with Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad.  Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, making quilts, clothes, and uniforms for numerous people.  One of her talents that she was most happy doing was playing guitar since she was 16 years old.   She taught several people how to play guitar, provided music for funerals, and benefits when called upon.  She loved her flowers and had a vast variety of them.  Another thing she loved doing was growing a garden and canning vegetables.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Frady, the father of her children, Alvin Broom, an infant child; three brothers, Albert Lee, Jerry Dennis, and Larry Leon Conner; one sister, Lena Jo Green Parris.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm on May 12, 2024, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva with Rev. Jason Bryson and Rev. Clemmy Queen Officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will take place in Conner Family Cemetery on Allens Branch Road, Sylva, NC.
