Faye Buckner Taylor

Mrs. Faye Buckner Taylor, age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at her home in Elkin.

Mrs. Taylor was born March 7, 1933 in Transylvania County to Esby Buckner and Beulah Galloway Buckner.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and  retired from Western Carolina University.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. Taylor; daughter, Teresa Coward; sisters, Elois Galloway, Gladys McCall, Elsie Buckner and Evelyn Whitmire; brothers, Esby Buckner, Jr., Elmer Buckner, and Wallis Buckner.

Survivors include: a son, James Owens and wife Rhonda of Elijay, Georgia; a daughter, Greathia Rose and husband Rick of Elkin; sister, Mildred Buckner of Brevard; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Sylva, NC with the Rev. Patrick Shelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
