George Warner Brown

George “Warner” Brown, 85, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Born on September 3, 1940, in Tuckasegee, North Carolina, he was the son of the late George Griffin Brown and Olia York Brown.

Warner honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed watching westerns and NASCAR, drinking coffee, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he shared with all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Brown; his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Brown; six grandchildren, Vanessa Shepherd, Ryne Brown, Cecelia Mashburn, Kyle Brown, Eli Mashburn, and Adam Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Rylie, and Harper. He is also survived by his brother, Clydeth Brown, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Warner was preceded in death by his son, Gregory “Scottie” Brown; two brothers, L.D. Brown and James Brown; and four sisters, Ursala Dickerson, Icelene Price, Lucy McCall, and Nellie Griner.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Sols Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
