Ginger Cabe Seay

Ginger Cabe Seay, 73, of Sylva, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Ginger was born on December 26, 1952, to the late Clyde and Callie Cabe. She grew up in the Pumpkintown community, where she made lifelong memories and began a life that would be defined by family, love, and devotion to those around her.

She is survived by the love of her life and her husband of 45 years, James Seay; her son, Casey Seay; daughter-in-law, Amanda Seay; and her beloved grandson, Tristan Seay.

She is also survived by her brother, David (Cindy) Cabe; sisters, Glinda Green and Marcia Gibson; nieces, Anna (Jason) Evans, Michele (Chad) McCoy, Melissa (Matthew Shillings) Gibson, and Mary (Logan) Shipley; and nephews, Bobby Coggins and Russell (Stephanie) Coggins.

Earlier in her life, Ginger was a master of mathematics and built a fulfilling career at Western Carolina University, eventually retiring from the Controller’s Office. She was intelligent, hardworking, and dedicated to everything she put her heart into.

But perhaps her greatest joy came when her grandson, Tristan, was born. From that moment on, she dedicated herself to being the very best GiGi she could be. Tristan was her world, and he never doubted for a moment just how deeply he was loved. To him, she truly was the best GiGi ever. The bond they shared was something special—one that will remain a treasured part of his life forever.

Ginger loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed their vacations together, making memories along the way and watching Tristan discover and fall in love with each beach they visited. She loved watching the sunrise over the ocean and soaking in those quiet, beautiful moments with the people she loved most. Christmas week at the family condo was another cherished tradition, filled with family, laughter, and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Ginger’s life was not defined by grand gestures, but by the love she gave so freely to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her greatest legacy will be the love she poured into the people around her and the memories she leaves behind.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

In accordance with Ginger’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation. A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
