Gladys Luker

Gladys Luker, 69 of Tuckasegee, passed away Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026. She was born in Jackson County, NC on March 26, 1957 to the late Jesse and Florence Hoxit. Gladys enjoyed fishing, cooking, canning, and most of all spending time with her family.

Gladys is survived by her husband of 53 years, Daniel Luker; daughters, Denise Luker, Deana Ashe (Chris), and her son, Dennis Luker (Allison); grandchildren, Dalton Broom, Natasha Ashe, Elijah and Garrett Luker, Sterling Darnell, and Christopher Woodall. Great grandchildren, Preston Rhoads, Kinsley and Brantley Driver, Karsyn and Emory Broom, Camdyn and Lakelyn Darnell. She is also survived by her brother, Berles Hoxit (Lynn); sisters, Dorothy Snyder (Jim), Leola Durham (Claud), Leona Luker (Leonard), and Brenda Luker (Clifton).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leeward Hoxit and Berlin Hoxit; sisters, Alma McCall, Edith Moon, Lillie Tucker, and Anna Faye Luker.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Community Church of God in Tuckasegee with the Reverend David Luker and Reverend Roger Luker officiating. Pallbearers will be Elijah Luker, Garrett Luker, Preston Rhoads, Darrell Luker, Pudge McFalls, and Leonard Hoxit. Burial will follow at Shook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 9 Redbone Hollow in Tuckasegee, after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening until 12:00 noon on Friday prior to the service.
