Harold Gene Hoxit

Harold Gene Hoxit, 87, of the Balsam Community went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2024. Harold was a native of Jackson County, born on May 31, 1937 to the late Eldon Lee and Anna Laura Hoxit. He retired from Champion International/Timberland Division. He was a proud loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Harold was a kind, loving, gentle soul that loved his family and friends deeply. He never met a stranger, he loved to talk with his family and friends and enjoyed having company and always had a kind word to say.

Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Hoxit; sisters, Girlene Hyatt, Bernice Bishop, and Clarise Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Reeve Hoxit; grandchildren, Matthew Clark (Kassie Fisher), Jill Breedlove (Patrick) of Bryson City; great-grandchildren, Kylei and Kyrslei Clark of Sylva, MaKaela and Hudson Breedlove of Bryson City; brother, Johnny Hoxit of Sylva; and a special sister and brother-in-law, Franklin and Kathy Barron. Several nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved deeply, also survive.

Harold will be missed by all who knew him. No services are planned per his request.
