Hazel Aletha Whiteside

Hazel Aletha Whiteside, 99, of Cullowhee, NC, transitioned from this life on Sunday, April 10, 2022 in Warner Robins, GA.

Hazel was born April 3, 1923 in Cullowhee, NC.  She is the daughter of the late William Henry and the late Estella (Love) Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers; Harold, Bill, and Howard Rogers; and sisters; Mae Louise Allen, Helen Scott, Ernestine Worth, Evelyn Waters, and Barbara Ann Rogers. 

She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Zion Church in Cullowhee, NC.  She retired from housekeeping and loved being with her entire family, gardening, canning, watching the Wheel of Fortune, listening to gospel music and preaching, and her Church.
She is survived by her children; Juanita Smith, Karen Powell, Kimberley Wheeler, and son-in-law Pastor Jerry Wheeler; four grandchildren Katrina Rogers, Angela Smith, Charles Smith and Joshua Wheeler; six great-grandchildren Adrienne Rogers, Ava Rogers, Jer-mayne White, Apryle Rogers, Janey Smith and Ari Smith; nine great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and loved ones. 
 Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday April 16, 2022 at Mt Zion AME Zion Church in Cullowhee, NC.  The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 prior to the Service at the Church, Elder Herbert Grant will be officiating with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
