Obituary

Homer Prelo Shuler, 86, passed away on May 7, 2026.

Born April 14, 1940 on Caney Fork, Prelo was an outdoorsman who loved being outside in the woods. He was a logger his entire life. Prelo was a man who loved his family and loved being outdoors with them, able to do it his whole life. He got to do what he loved throughout his life.

Prelo is preceded in death by his loving wife, Anne Nell Ammons. In addition to Anne, he is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Winton and Vena Price Shular. Along with his brothers, Doyle, Eldon, Jim, Clinton, Carlton, AB, and sisters Agnes and Eulala Shular, and Sally Henson. He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Jeanette Buttery.

Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law, Scott and Ella Buttery, as well as a granddaughter, Brittany Buttery. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as several friends and family members whom he loved very much.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery at New Hope, family will receive friends from 12 pm-2 pm before the funeral.

Pallbearers  are Scott Buttery, Trey Shular, Scott Farmer, Josh Hair, Jim Hair, Ricky Cook and honorary pallbearer, Roger Shular.
