James Randy Herron, known to friends and family as Randy, peacefully passed away at his home in Asheville on January 31, 2024. He was born on April 18, 1959, and left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. With his kind heart, dedication to his family, and remarkable contributions to his community, Randy's legacy will forever be cherished.

For over six decades, the business flourished under his guidance and has become an integral part of the local community. Randy's commitment to excellence and unwavering work ethic ensured its success and longevity. His contributions have had a lasting impact on the field of surveying.

While Randy dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career, he always made time for what truly mattered - spending time with his grandchildren.  creating cherished memories that will be treasured by all.

Randy's educational journey began at Sylva-Webster High School. After graduating, he pursued higher education at NC State University where he obtained a Bachelor's degree. As a diehard Wolfpack fan, Randy proudly displayed his school colors and supported the university throughout his lifetime. Additionally, he served on the Board of Haywood Community College, further demonstrating his commitment to fostering education in his community.

Randy took immense pride in his accomplishments, but above all else, he cherished those closest to him. He shared 46 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Karen Burrell Herron. Their bond was a testament to love, support, and unwavering devotion. Randy was also fortunate to have the love and guidance of his mother, Patty Lou Reagan Herron.

He leaves behind his daughter Reagan Miller (Nathan), his brother David Herron (Heather), his brother Jeff Herron, and his sister Beth Herron Higdon.

Randy's greatest joy came from being a doting grandfather to Kingston and Kaia. Their laughter brought light into his life as he eagerly embraced the role of a loving grandparent.
