James Ned Clayton

James Ned “Sweat Bee” Clayton, age 73 of Sylva NC, passed away on Friday March 3, 2023, after several months of declining health. He was born on June 11, 1949, in Jackson County, to the late Terrell & Gertrude Blanton, Clayton. 

Sweat Bee was a graduate of Sylva Webster High School.  He was a native and lifelong resident who enjoyed fishing.  He was a painter by trade but enjoyed volunteering at his local Moose Lodge of 49 years.  He donated all the fish he caught for everyone to enjoy.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Barbara (Muma); children, James Brody Clayton (Betsy), Mandy Clayton, Jereme Webster (Colleen), Charlie Webster (Shelby); siblings, Linda Staffelbach, Joe Clayton (Wanda), Bruce Clayton, Dickie Clayton, and Neil Clayton (Judy)
 
A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00PM on April 16, 2023, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.  The family will receive friends from 2:00PM - 3:00PM.
