Joan "Polly" Buchanan Pittman

Joan Elizabeth Buchanan (Polly) Pittman 53 of Whittier, passed away on Monday June 26, 2023, at Harris Regional Hospital. Polly was born on October 13, 1969 to the late Jimmie Lee and Betty Jean Green Buchanan.

Polly enjoyed watching TV, spoiling her nieces and nephews, and spending time with her family at the beach. She also loved Elvis, Snoopy, and Coke Cola. Polly enjoyed her job at Jackson County Department of Social Services. Her favorite pastime was taking care of everyone else. She was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church in Bryson City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Buchanan.

Polly is survived by her husband of thirty years, Eric Pittman; a niece ,who was more like a daughter, Jessica Queen (Christian); three sisters, Peggy Jean Buchanan, Joyce Dyer (Kenneth), Kathy Buchanan; two brothers, Tony Lee Buchanan, and Brian Keith Buchanan (Paula). Also surviving are a niece, Tiffany Lee Dyer, three nephews, Kenny Dyer, Eric Buchanan, and Ronnie Buchanan. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 30, 2023 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Earl King and Rev. Lewis Crisp officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, June 29, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Buchanan Cemetery.
