John "Jack" Boone

"Boone, John ‘Jack’. (December 28, 1938-July 26, 2026)

Our sadness is profound as we share that John ‘Jack’ Boone died peacefully on Sunday, July 2026 at midday in Glenville, North Carolina.

Supported by the compassionate Hospice team from Four Seasons, he was at rest. Looking over the Appalachian/Blue Ridge Mountains from his mountain top summer home on Pilot’s Knob with soul mate-life partner Suzane and their dog ‘Caper.’ This was one of Jacks most restful and beloved places.

Jack is survived by his long time soul mate-life partner Suzane Quain (Clearwater Beach, Florida) , his half-brother Gary LeDrew (Sydney, Nova Scotia), brother in-law Dennis Cisterna (Florida), the many ‘Boone’ and ‘MacDonald’ cousins in Nova Scotia; including Rowan Boone (Nova Scotia) whom he shared a special relationship and thought of as a grandson. Jack also treasured his time with Suzane’s children and families: her son Craig (Colleen and daughter Eversen), daughter Samantha (Chris and children Bryan & Ashley), son John (Emily and son Noah).

Jack was predeceased by his parents Mark and Aggie Boone (New Waterford, N.S.); his daughter Tammy Boone and former wife Marlene (Florida) and cousin Greg Boone Sr. of New Waterford where they grew up as brothers.

Jack was a proud native of New Waterford in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, Canada. Besides North Carolina, he was well known in his other home community of Clearwater Beach, Florida. He often shared stories about his many experiences and relationships with friends and family while growing up in the coal mining town along the Atlantic Ocean.

Jack’s well known work ethic had early roots. He did many things. As a young boy he helped his father Mark in his local photography business and with his father’s craft distillery. He delivered bread for Lynch’s Bakery in Sydney Nova Scotia. He graduated high school and completed a year at Xavier Junior College. There was also a two season stint working as a Stoker on the MV Arthur Cross. It was a freighter/collier with coal fired boilers sailing to ports on the St. Lawrence River and along the Atlantic coast delivering coal from Cape Breton’s mines for the Dominion Shipping Company.

Like many from his home town, he ventured to Toronto, Ontario in the early sixties. He was hired by a well-known company at the time, Sainthill-Levine. A Canadian clothing maker of custom suits, shirts, uniforms and work wear. Eventually he was promoted to an executive position.

In the early seventies, Jack ventured south to Florida and partnership in a Clearwater Beach Motel. He then discovered the world of car sales. Old fashioned hard work, determination, skill and his talent paid off. He finished his sales career as an owner of a Mazda/Volvo car dealership in Florida. In retirement he still kept busy buying and selling used cars and boats and helped as a broker for friends looking to buy a car or boat.

Jack was well respected by friends and family in the United States and Canada, business partners and acquaintances from near and far. For those who crossed his path, had a meal, a drink or a chat along the way, you would know that Jack shared a lifelong enjoyment and passion for the water, boats, cars, travel and socializing.

Jack handled his illness with strength and dignity and reflected very recently on his life. He talked about his many experiences. He said most important were family and friends who gave him love, companionship and enjoyment. He finished that chat off with five words: “I Had a Tremendous Life.”

Rest easy Jack Boone!
