Junior Moss, 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 16, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories with his family and friends.
Junior was born to the late Herstel Montgomery Moss and Ellen Louise Holland Moss. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Eddie Moss; his parents; and his brothers, Lewis Moss, Charles Moss, and Charles Stewart.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Glenda Nix Moss, whose love and partnership were the foundation of their family. He also leaves behind his loving daughters, Denise Moss and Dawn Franks (Dewayne).
Junior is also survived by his sisters, Ellen Bryson (Robert), Jayne Hughey (Leland), and Joyce Mort.
He was a proud grandfather to Earnest Franks (Kolee), LeAnn Franks (Kylor), Kala Franks (Robert), Amanda Nicholson (Travis), Andrea Cruz (Chepe), Emerald Ammons (Jesse), and Walker Broom (Taaron). He was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him endless pride and joy.
Junior proudly served his country as a veteran, a commitment that reflected his sense of duty, strength, and love for his country. After his military service, he returned home and built a life centered around family, and the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time riding the back roads. Bear hunting with his family was one of his greatest passions. Every season brought new adventures, and he treasured every moment spent in the mountains with the people he loved most. Whether sitting around a campfire or gathered after a successful hunt, Junior could tell a bear hunting story like no one else. His stories were filled with humor, adventure, and lessons learned from years in the woods. They brought laughter to every gathering and created memories that his family will cherish forever.
Above all else, Junior loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, brother, and friend. He found his greatest joy not in the trophies he brought home, but in the time spent with those he loved. His quiet strength, kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
A memorial service celebrating Junior’s life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2pm at the Cashiers Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life, share memories, and honor a man who was deeply loved.
When bear season comes around and family and friends gather in the mountains once again, there will always be one story missing—the one only Junior could tell. Though his voice may be silent, his stories, his laughter, and the love he shared will echo through those mountains for generations to come. He will be forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
