Larry Dale Phillips, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, at the age of 77. Born in Jackson County, North Carolina on January 4th, 1947, Dale was a long-time resident of Sylva, NC.
Dale is survived by his loving wife Nancy, the mother of his children Kathy Maples, his daughters Kimberly Forrest and Cynthia (Travis) McCroskey, his grandchildren Carrie, Mark, Katherine ( Justin), Spencer (Courtney), Shelby (Wyatt), and Sylas, and his great-grandchildren Jacob, Josiah, Samuel, Brian, Jackson, Jared, Wilder, and Elenora Faye. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Ruby Rowe, sister-in-law Mary (Evan) Therrell, brother-in-law David Hyatt, nephew Stanley Pressley, and many friends, neighbors, and church family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Rasho and Elenora Cook Phillips, his sister JoAnn Teague, and his brothers Jimmy and Richard Phillips.
Dale was a hardworking man who owned Point After Restaurant in Sylva, Dale's Fish Camp in Cherokee, and retired from Smoky Mountain High School as a Cafeteria Manager. He was known for his love of the outdoors, fishing, gardening, camping, and his love for sitting in the sunshine.
Dale was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and loved his church family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and his contagious smile will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
The family will receive friends from 11:00AM - 1:00PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, Sylva NC. A Funeral Service will take place at 1:00PM, with Revs. Ernie Jamison and Eugene Ridley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
