LC McMahan, 92, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 7, 2026.
Born on August 22, 1933, at the head of Cany Fork to the late Lawrence and Susie Cook McMahan, LC lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and a deep love for the mountains and outdoors he called home.
LC was the oldest member of the Balsam-Willets Fire Department and was deeply respected throughout the community for his dedication and years of service. He proudly served his country as an Army medic during the 1950s before beginning a long career as a heavy equipment operator, where he worked faithfully until retirement.
An avid outdoorsman and member of the Bear Hunters Association, LC especially loved fishing alongside his beloved wife of 71 years, Peggy Blanton McMahan, who passed away in February. Together they shared countless happy days competing and making memories on the water. LC also dearly loved gospel music, which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.
In addition to his wife and parents, LC was preceded in death by his daughter, Terrie Lynn Graziosi; grandson, Michael Derrick Cunningham; five brothers, Roy, Ray, Blackie, Red, and Troy McMahan; and four sisters, Bettie Lee Hill, Fay Parker, Arilla Jones, and Mattie Hooper.
He is survived by his daughters, Pat Sluder (Mike) and Angie West (Jack); his sister, Alice Henson (Reed); Grandchildren, Benji, Josh, Nikki, Tamayra, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Hunter, Jaden, Walter, Allie, Ruby, Ethan, Watson, Taylor, Hadley, Kinsley; great-great-grandchildren, Addison, Kylie, Maelynn, McKinzie, Kari, and Cohen.
LC will be remembered for his strong spirit, love of family, dedication to his community, and deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. His legacy of kindness, service, and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him.
