Linda Overmyer Kane

Linda Overmyer Kane, born November 28, 1934, died September 14, 2026, after a six-month battle with cancer.

She Leaves behind Bill, her husband of 70 years, five of her six children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Four of her remaining children live in North Carolina, one in Kentucky, the grandchildren are scattered, and the great grandchildren live with their parents in South Carolina.

Linda was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and worked as a secretary at Washington University. When she met and married Bill she became an Air Force wife. She created warm and loving homes from far northern Main to far southern Florida, as far west as Louisiana, and places in between. Linda was a traditional stay at home mom until the kids left home. She got them off to school, was home when they came home from school, sat them down to do homework, along with a snack.

When the family retired from the Air Force and Bill finished school they moved to Cullowhee 50 years ago, Linda was an active person and enjoyed hiking with friends, her bicycle, travel and camping. The family camped all over the United States in their pop-up camper. When the kids were grown, she and Bill would get in the car and just wander.

She enjoyed her gardening, book club and quilting group. When she was ill she and Bill discussed their 70 years together and agreed that, while not always easy, it was a heck of an adventure. We miss her.
