With heavy hearts and full glasses, we announce the passing of Linda R. Lane, who left us on September 11, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on July 27, 1946 in Manhattan New York, Linda lived her life with a rare blend of grit, warmth, and generosity that made her unforgettable to everyone lucky enough to know her. Linda is survived by one brother (Daniel Rubey), sister-in-law (Karen Sughrue) of New York, and leaving behind many friends. Linda was proud of serving as the post master of Cashiers for 20 years.
Linda was the kind of woman who would give you the shirt off her back—and literally did a few times—without a second thought. Her home was a sanctuary for many: walk through her door and you’d be greeted with a strong cup of coffee or a well-poured cocktail, plenty of laughter, and conversation that could turn from hilarious to heartfelt in an instant.
She was full of "spit and vinegar," a fiery spirit that drew people to her and kept them close. Linda was sharp, loving, opinionated in the best way, and unapologetically herself. She didn’t just live life—she challenged it, questioned it, laughed at it, and loved deeply through it all.
To those of us who loved her most, we will try our best not to mourn her in sorrow, but to celebrate the incredible woman she was. We’ll raise our glasses in her honor and remember the arguments that turned into inside jokes, the laughter that filled rooms, the long talks that lingered into the night, and above all, the unwavering love she gave so freely.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, unforgettable stories, and the kind of spirit that never really leaves us. She will be missed beyond words—but never forgotten.
Cheers to you, Linda.
