Lucinda Lee Haney Babb “Cindi” passed away on Monday June 3, 2024. She was 54 years young.
Cindi was born in Sylva, NC on April 16, 1970. She was the daughter of Gary Dexter Haney Sr and the late Minnie Lee Haney. She is survived by her three Children, David Rutherford (Ashley), Emily Rutherford and Johnathan Rutherford. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Taylor, Jaxon, Lily, Conner and Luke… Her Brother Gary Haney (Susan) and Sisters: Melissa Henry (Michael) and Margaret Ramey (Mark). She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Cindi was a hardworking loving mother with an infectious spirit. When Cindi set her mind to something she was all in. She enjoyed the time that she was a preschool teacher, the time working with the tree service, and she loved living on the farm in Florida where she raised cattle and her pretty little chickens. This “Crazy Chicken Lady” (and yes, she had a T-shirt) was known for her quick wit, her wonderful smile and her stubborn streak. All who knew her will remember her love and passion for her animals.
Cindi was more than a sibling; she was a friend. Late night phone calls to catch up or just hear a friendly voice after a hard day. There might be weeks between phone calls, but sometimes just a day. Kids to bed and having that “adult” time to catch up, vent and sister conversation was precious. Distance was negated when her voice came across the phone and hours would pass. She was a true Georgia Bulldog fan. She would be glued to the TV for every game. Wearing her jersey and calling everyone (or texting) after every score. Friends and family would know the score and for those that were not Georgia fans would hear it for days.
Cindi will be deeply missed. She leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew her. She will travel for the last time and return to her “Doll House” in Lumpkin, Georgia where she requested.
