On August 7, 2025, Marvita Queen McMahan broke the bonds of her earthly body, as her spirit and soul passed into the paradise that Jesus promised her, when she was saved at an early age. Marvita was born on October 5, 1942 to the late Paul Queen and Mamie Brown Queen.
Marvita was a loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her quick wit and loving smile will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was a lifelong resident of Sylva and attended the old Sylva High School. She was employed by Skyland and Buster Brown sewing factories for almost thirty years until the factory shut down. In her later years, before her retirement, Marvita worked at Skyland Care Center.
In addition to her parents, Marvita was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kay McMahan; and brothers, Claude Lane Queen and Paul Wayne Queen.
Marvita is survived by her brother, Frank Queen and his wife, Virginia; two grandsons, Brandon Evans and Dustin Harris; several great grandchildren and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Skyland Care Center for the professional, gentle, and loving care that Marvita received during her extended stay at the facility.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
My mind still talks to you,
My heart still looks for you,
But my soul knows that you are at peace.
