Mary Elma Oakes Redditt 97, woke up in Jesus arms Tuesday February 27, 2024. She was born April 24, 1926 in Itta Bena, MS to Elliott David Oakes and Mary Lee Bowers Oakes. She was a resident of Sylva, NC since August 2005.

She was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and gardening and spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband Thomas James Redditt, Jr., two sons and one daughter.

Survived by daughters Sarah Tollie (John) and Patti Griffith of Sylva; sons Ed Redditt of Wauchula, FL and Frank Redditt of Miami, FL and daughter-in-law Debrah Lee Redditt of Ft. Myers, FL as well as grandchildren Maryann McConnell, Sylva; Nicholas Redditt (Kim Gritter) FL; Amanda Beagan (Greg) VA; Erik Smith, FL; Robert Redditt (Michelle), FL; Kenny Redditt (Kristy), MS; Michelle O’Dette, GA; Jessica
Redditt, Asheville and Kelcei Fisher (Mike) of Whittier and 12 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m. on March 24, 2024 at Lighthouse Baptist Church 2577 US Hwy 441, Sylva, NC 28779. Interment will be beside her loving husband at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, FL. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Lighthouse Baptist Church.
