Dr. Myron Jack Leonard

Dr. Myron Jack Leonard, 87, of Cullowhee, NC, passed away surrounded by loved ones on February 10, 2026.

He was a professor of marketing at Western Carolina University for 38 years. He started his teaching career in 1969 and remained a professor there until his retirement in 2007. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 23rd, 1938. He attended Ohio State University where he earned his undergraduate degree. He then attended the University of Georgia where he earned his Masters and PhD.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Esther and his younger brother Alvin. He leaves behind and is mourned by his wife of 52 years, June Leonard; his three children Deborah Calhoun (Paul) of Chesapeake, VA, Jonathan Leonard of Cullowhee, NC, and David Leonard (Jessi) of Wilmington, NC and five grandchildren Carmen, Miles, Isaac, Zoey, and Summer.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 14, 2026, in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Tonya & Jeff Vickery will be officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
