Nikki Cheryl Henke

Nikki Cheryl Smith Henke 80 of Sylva passed away on Thursday August 28th. Nikki was born on December 9, 1945 to the late Aldine Cash Smith and Frances Louise Staton.

Nikki was a member of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene in Waynesville where she had been choir director for more than thirty-five years. She was also a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the church board of directors. Nikki was an educator, teaching at Asheville City Schools - Hall Fletcher Jr. High and Haywood County Schools - Waynesville Jr. High. She taught school for twenty-two years and retired in 1997. Nikki enjoyed arts and crafts, especially painting and making crafts.

In addition to her parents, Nikki was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Dean Henke of Sylva.

Nikki is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Kenneth Edward Henke and a son, Edward Len Henke (Kristen Duckett); as well as two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Deborah Lynn Smith Smith (Robert Paul) of Raleigh.
