Olin R. Buchanan

Mr. Olin R. Buchanan, age 82, of Sylva, passed away November 24, 2020. A native of Jackson County, Olin was a devoted member of East Fork Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible Study. In addition to his late parents, Allen Buchanan and Alice Green Buchanan, he is preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.  He is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Jolene G. Buchanan, of Sylva; two sons, Randall O. (Tera) Buchanan, of Arden, NC, and John A. (Brenda Bennett) Buchanan, of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kim) Buchanan, Paige Buchanan, Kallie Jo Buchanan, Erika (Jeff) Gibby, Heather (Jonathan) White, Travis Brent, Blaine Howell; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Buchanan, of Bryson City, and Richard Earl Buchanan, of Sedro-Woolley, WA; many nieces nephews, and church family, and friends. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 12:00 PM Graveside at Fairview Memorial Gardens.  The funeral service will begin at the graveside at 1:00 PM.  Rev. Dennis Burrell, and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Olin's name to United Christian MInistries 191 Skyland Dr. Sylva, NC 28779 or Tuckasegee Baptist Association PO Box 266 Sylva, NC 28779.
