Patrick Dewitt Parris

Patrick Dewitt Parris, 57, of Franklin, NC, died January 5, 2022, at home. Patrick was born July 5, 1964, in Sylva, NC, and remained closely tied to that community throughout his life.

He was a 1982 graduate of Sylva-Webster High School. A lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Duke Blue Devils, Patrick enjoyed cheering his teams on through good seasons and bad. Above all, he treasured classic rock-n-roll, trout fishing Scott’s Creek, and so many good times with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Dakota Parris of Sylva; his mother, Mary Sutton Parris of Franklin; and his brother, Jamie Parris of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Ray Parris.

Patrick was what Lynyrd Skynyrd would call “a simple man”, with a giving, loving soul, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00PM, on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00PM. Rev. J.R. Fish, officiating.
