Paula Sink Sayre

Paula Sink Sayre, beloved family member and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on August 23, 1946, Paula’s life was marked by enduring love, meaningful relationships, and a steadfast devotion to those she held dear.

Paula leaves behind a loving legacy in her surviving family, who carry her memory forward with deep affection. She is survived by Jill Sink, Eric Sink (Nicole), Ian Sink (Jennifer), Kristin Jones (Chris). Her role as a nurturing presence extended across generations, and she is fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Henry, Holly, Zane, Zeb, Zeke, Jonathan, Grace, Sara, Anna, Ashlynn, Hayden, Emily. Paula’s gentle guidance and warmth also live on through her great-grandchildren, Finnegan and Elizabeth.

The sense of family that was so central to Paula’s character was shaped by memories of those who preceded her in passing. She now rests in peace with her her husband, William Sink, beloved daughter Angela Sink, as well as her mother, Helen Anderson Swayngim, and her father, James Paul Swayngim.

Those who knew Paula will remember her not just for her dedication to her family, but also for the wisdom, kindness, and generosity she extended to everyone in her life. Her unwavering commitment to those around her—whether as a guiding hand, a loyal companion, or a supportive confidante—has left an immeasurable impact that will be treasured for years to come.

Family and friends are invited to honor Paula’s life at Appalachian Funeral Services, located at 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC 28779. Visitation will be held on July 17, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The memory of Paula Sink Sayre’s kindness, love, and steadfast spirit will continue to be an enduring inspiration to all who were privileged to know her.
