Peggy Jo Parton

Peggy Parton, 84 of Whittier, NC, passed away early Sunday morning, November 27, 2022
A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Hilliard and Fetzer Sherrill Howell.
A Faithful Member of Victory Baptist Church in Bryson City, Peggy loved her Church and had many roles there including Sunday school secretary, a member of the choir and also served as treasurer, taught Sunday School and Bible School, She would volunteer annually with the Operation Christmas Child and many other functions the Church was having. Peggy also worked at Granny's Kitchen for many years. She was a very independent woman, and a proud military wife, who loved to travel and she always had a  smile on her face when she talked about Jesus. She was also known for her dancing and being the life of any party. She enjoyed crafting and baking, especially her famous German Chocolate Cake and Devils Eggs.  Peggy also served as a Trustee for Sherrill Cemetery. 
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband James Lafayette Parton, and by her 4 siblings; Hilda, Helen, Ronald and Bill. 
She is survived by her son; Woody (Denise) Parton of Rural Hall, NC
Granddaughter; Kayla (Jamil) Khan of Charlotte
Great Grandson; Asher
2 Nieces; Sherry Ann Christopher and Brenda Shook
Nephew; Steve Howell
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday November 30, 2022 at Victory Baptist Church in Bryson City. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm till 2:00 prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will be in Sherrill Cemetery.
